News from my corner of the world:

March 31, 2020: With regret I need to announce that my book signing scheduled for April 11 has been canceled until further notice due to the Covid-19 virus. It will be held at a later date. In the meantime check out the first review of "Reilly's Dilemma" under the "Reviews" tab at the top. Until then stay healthy and safe. I look forward to seeing you soon.

February 2020: "Reilly's Dilemma", my latest novel has just been published. Check out an excerpt under the "Novels" tab. You can learn a bit of the background on the plot and primary characters on my blog. Then order it either here or on Amazon. But wait, that's not the end: be sure to leave a review and let everyone know what you think. Reviews are gold to authors. I look forward to yours.

November 2019: My sister and I went on a Viking River Cruise from Paris to Normandy, France. It was the trip of a lifetime. Read about it on my blog and see some of the photos I published. My brain is still reeling from what we experienced.

October 2018: I've been featured in Michael McCarty's blog. He's a multi-published author of horror novels. I've published an excerpt on my blog. If you would like to read the complete interview, here's the link:

September 2018: Not to brag, but Kindle sales for "Unmasking Miss Jane" have exceeded 10,000 KENP (pages read). If you're on Kindle Prime, and haven't yet read the novel, join in.

January 2018: I just took my third and final traditionally published novel, THE WATERKEEPER'S DAUGHTER back from my publisher at the end of my contract and republished it as a second edition with a brand new cover. You can check it out under the "Novels" tab here and on Amazon. For those who've never read it, you have a treat in store. For those who have, you may want to reacquaint yourselves with Annie, Raoul, Philip and the rest of the gang. The ebook is free today - Jan. 12, so be sure to get your copy. Then leave a comment to let others know how you liked it. And, if it's not too late, I'd like to wish you and your loved ones a happy, healthy, peaceful and prosperous New Year.

August 2017: Great news! LEON'S WALL has
passed the quality standards and is "Underground Certified." It is now eligible for review by Underground Reviews! For complete details, check out the August 23 post on my blog.

June 2017: LEON'S WALL, a companion novel to ESCAPE FROM AMBERGRIS CAYE, was published June 30th. It follows Leon Donatello, the trafficker from the earlier novel into witness protection. If you haven't read ESCAPE, you can still read it as a standalone novel. Both novels are available on Amazon, this website and other outlets.

May 2017:
UNMASKING MISS JANE has just been released. The 2nd edition of THE MANGLED SPOON, it was originally published in 2014. It includes an exciting new cover which everyone who's seen it loves. Check it out on my blog and click on the "Home" tab to read an excerpt. The ebook will be for sale at the special price of 0.99 on Amazon for one day on June 2nd.
My fifth novel, LEON'S WALL, a companion novel to ESCAPE FROM AMBERGRIS CAYE is in the final editing stages and will be published in the near future. Stay tuned!

March 2016:  My fourth novel, ESCAPE FROM AMBERGRIS CAYE has just been released.
You can obtain the book in paperback here or on Amazon as an ebook or paperback. Let me know how like it by posting comments or reviews on Amazon. Or contact me directly. I would love to hear what you think.

July 2015: The River Road Book Club in Cordova, Illinois read my novel, THE WATERKEEPER'S DAUGHTER, for their July meeting. I was invited to attend and enjoyed meeting club members and fielding their questions. Check out the photo of librarian Sue Hebel with me under the "Photos" tab. More photos of the meeting are on my Facebook author page at: https://www.facebook.com/joanmauch.author  Take a look!

June 2015: Attended the gala opening of Aurora, Illinois' new $23-million public library. I was invited to attend because I will be participating in their Bunches of Authors Day in September. This experience is chronicled on my blog entry for June 15.

February 2015: Quad-Cities Waterkeeper Art Norris and I gave a presentation at Bettendorf Library's Read Local program. It was well attended and I enjoyed participating. For details on the event, check out my Feb. 15 blog note

February 2015: While I don't pretend to be an expert on marketing, for you new authors out there, Jodie Toohy's Wordsy Woman Author Services website featured me in its author spotlight discussing ways to promote your novel. The link is: wordsywomanforauthors.com/author-spotlight-joan-mauch-published-whiskey-creek-press/

November 2014: THE WATERKEEPER'S DAUGHTER has officially been released. Art Norris, waterkeeper for the Quad-Cities and Upper Mississippi read it and loved it. For me that's approval enough. It's also received an editorial review (see the "Reviews" tab above). You can obtain the book in paperback or as an ebook. Let me know how like it by posting comments on Amazon, GoodReads and Barnes & Noble. Or if you prefer, contact me directly through this website. I look forward to hearing from you!

August 2014: My third novel, THE WATERKEEPER'S DAUGHTER is scheduled for release in October. I just finished reviewing the galleys and await the cover design. An excerpt is posted. More details to follow. Happy end of Summer!

July 2014: My publisher, Whiskey Creek Press, has been acquired by Start Publishing, LLC, a division of Start Media a quickly growing New York City-based company. It is an exciting opportunity for WCP authors as this company is an integral part of Start Media, a company which does feature film production and has other interests in the entertainment industry. As such, Start Publishing serves as a development pool for content that might be translated into media beyond books. So for fans of HALIFAX who've repeatedly said the novel should be turned into a movie - who knows? One day it just might happen!

May 2014: On Memorial Day weekend, THE MANGLED SPOON was officially launched with the help of family, friends, neighbors and local authors and writers from across the Quad-Cities. The event was held at The Barrel House, a popular gathering place in downtown Davenport. A good time was held by all!

May 2014: In April the ebook version of THE MANGLED SPOON was released on Amazon (Kindle), Barnes & Noble (Nook) and Whiskey Creek Press. The paperback is now available through this website (see the order form under the "more" tab) or contact me directly at joanmauch@aol.com. A book launch will be held Sunday, May 25th at the Barrel House, 211 E. 2nd St., Davenport from 1-4. Book signings are scheduled for the Book Rack on Saturday, May 24 from 11-1 at 3937-41 Ave. Dr., Moline and at the same time on June 7 at the Davenport store, 4764 Elmore Ave. I look forward to seeing you soon.

March 2014: Only a few weeks to go before the release of THE MANGLED SPOON. The cover and galleys are approved and it's now going into print. Get ready for the launch party and book signings. The dates will be set as soon as the books are in my hot little hands. I'll keep you posted!

January 2014: Just received a contract offer for my third novel, THE WATERKEEPER'S DAUGHTER. It's about what happens when a man seeks revenge for havoc wreaked on his family by the aerial spraying of pesticides, and targets the responsible party’s son and granddaughter for death. I expect it to be released in early 2015. In the meantime, I'm gearing up for the release of THE MANGLED SPOON in April. Stay tuned!

October 2013: My sister, Peggy Lanizzani died while snorkeling in the Florida Keys. I have no words to express how much she will be missed.

September 2013: HALIFAX was given a great review on the website Readers' Favorites. Check it out on my "reviews" tab or better yet, visit their website and see for yourself at http://bit.ly/ReadersFavoriteHalifax

August 2013: HALIFAX was chosen as book of the day by First Chapters. Check it out at
http://bit.ly/halifaxfirstchapters.

July 2013:   My second novel, THE MANGLED SPOON is scheduled for release April 2014. Check out the excerpt and let me know what you think.

June 2013:  I'll be signing copies of my novel, HALIFAX at The Book Rack, 3937-41 Ave. Drive, Moline on July 6th from 11-2:00. Hope to see you there!

April 2013: "Halifax" was included in Underground Book Reviews as a "pitch perfect pick". Check it out at:
undergroundbookreviews.com/pitch-perfect-picks.html

March 2013: BIG NEWS! I just signed a contract with Whiskey Creek Press for the publication of my second novel, THE MANGLED SPOON. It's a mystery about what happens when evil finds a home in the Catholic Church. A release date has not as yet been determined. Stay tuned! In the meantime I'm hard at work promoting HALIFAX and writing my next novel. Someone asked what I did for "fun". Fun? What's that? Oh, I know, it's getting your book published after trying for 12 years - and then getting a contract for a second one! Now that's what I call fun!

March 2013: I will be displaying HALIFAX at the Midwest Writing Center's Literary Arts banquet's book fair tonight in Davenport. It'll be a good opportunity to introduce my book to area writers. Wish me luck!

_February 2013:  Book signings are scheduled for The Book Rack, a Quad-Cities' book seller. The first will be on Mar. 2 from 11-2 at the Davenport store, located at 4764 Elmore Ave. The second is scheduled for the following Saturday, Mar. 9 from 11-2 in Moline at 3937 41 Ave. Hope to see you there!

January 2013: My book launch was held Sunday on an icy, gloomy day. Despite the weather, 75 people showed up and we had a wonderful time. Thanks to all who came out to celebrate the launch of HALIFAX!

January 2013: The books have arrived! Let the celebrations begin!!

January 2013: Anxiously awaiting delivery of the paperback copies, which my publisher has assured me are being shipped even as I write. Truthfully, I can hardly wait to hold it in my hands and see my name on the cover. Talk about the bucket list. Being a published author was on mine for so long. I just never imagined it would actually happen.

December 2012: Proofed the galleys and cover of HALIFAX being published by Whiskey Creek Press for release in January. And yes, I'm over the moon. Can't wait to see the finished product.

April 2012: I just received an official welcome from Whiskey Creek Press along with an ISBN number and release date of January 2013. I'll let you know what comes next after I submit the information requested - and calm down. Seeing that ISBN number made it all real.

January 2012: At the moment, my big news is that I have a contract with Whiskey Creek Press for the publication of HALIFAX. I'm at the beginning of the process, so the release date is still down the road. I'll keep you posted. And yes, I couldn't be more excited.
