The play, "Picture Imperfect" was the true story of a single mom struggling to keep her autistic son from being removed from her custody by the state. To say it's compelling would be an understatement. The story, especially the ending will leave you breathless and thinking about it long after the final curtain call. Anyone with an autistic child or who knows someone who's dealing with autism should see this. The seventh-grade boy who portrays an autistic child did an incredible job in a difficult role.
The play runs through April 4 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:00 at the AthenaeumTheatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. Tickets are available through their website at www.athenaeumtheatre.org or call 773-935-6875. It's a rewarding experience and well worth the trip!
