About me...

Picture
Like most writers, I loved to read and write from an early age. However, unlike  many, it never occurred to me that someday I'd actually get paid for doing something I love. So, imagine my surprise when I landed a job as a writer for a public relations firm and then a national association. I kept expecting to be fired when they discovered I really couldn't write. After all, I had no journalism degree and only a course or two in creative writing. I was a chemistry major with a master's in urban studies. Who was I to allege that I could actually write when all I really brought to the table was a life-long love affair with the spoken word?

Fortunately, I wasn't fired and went on to a career in public relations and marketing. Then the most amazing thing of all happened. After writing the manuscripts for nearly six novels, Whiskey Creek Press offered to publish "Halifax". A year later, "The Mangled Spoon" (later retitled "Unmasking Miss Jane",  was released. A third, "The Waterkeeper's Daughter" was published on Nov. 25th 2014.

For a variety of reasons I subsequently decided to take the leap many authors have taken and self-publish, so in March 2016 "Escape from Ambergris Cay",  a year later, "Leon's Wall" and now "Reilly's Dilemma" were all released. Twenty years after I began to write fiction, six of my novels have been published. I guess the takeaway from my experience is that if you are determined and keep trying even when common sense tells you to give up, dreams really can come true.

When I’m not visiting my son, Benjamin in Florida, I live and work in the Quad-Cities. Stay tuned.
